The site is located in Okuyugawara, an area deep in the mountains away from the center of the Yugawara spa resort. When we visited the site, which faces the Fujiki River from which the hot spring water gushes, we decided to create a building that makes the most of the beautiful murmur of the river and the natural landscape, which changes with the seasons.
In order to maximize the river landscape, the floor plan is open to the river in a 'C' shape, and the interior finishes and equipment are dark-toned to reduce the amount of information in the rooms so that only the river landscape stands out. The ceilings are made of highly reflective materials to create a mirror that dynamically reflects the flow of the river and the movement of the trees. The swaying trees and the murmuring of the river are captured freshly, creating a fantastic space.
